The management and members of staff of Independent Communication Network Limited (ICNL), publishers of TheNews and P.M.NEWS yesterday organised a befitting get-together for their two workers who have just resigned.

The two workers, Mr. Tony Orilade, Senior Staff Writer, Abuja, and Mr. Gbenga Ademoyo, the company’s auditor, were commended for serving the organisation meritoriously for 15 and 13 years respectively.

The Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Bayo Onanuga, in his remarks described Orilade and Ademoyo as worthy ambassadors of the company.

The ceremony, he said, was the first of its kind in the history of the organisation, adding that the company has faced some challenges in the past.

He promised there would be improvement in staff welfare as soon as the finances of the company improved.

The Senior Editor, TheNews, Mr. Babajide Kolade Otitoju said that he was impressed with the performances of Orilade and Ademoyo, adding that they were diligent, reliable and friendly.

The outgoing Auditor, Mr. Gbenga Ademoyo said he was grateful for the cooperation he received from the management and members of staff in the past 15 years, adding that he was sad to leave, but that he had to move on in life.

Mr. Orilade recalled how the Managing Editor, Mr. Babafemi Ojodu commended him for a report he did on the ADC crash in Ikorodu in 1996, as well as his experience in Abuja.

“I was a part of the investigation of the Alhaji Salisu Buhari story which brought us fame. The management gave me a commendation letter. When an award was instituted for the editorial department, I was a recipient. All these motivations, no doubt, could make even the journalistic lame walk. Though I was already walking, my speed increased,” he said.
