A 100 level Medical Science student of the University of Lagos, Lanade Abayomi, 23, who lives at 3/4, Ikija Street, Bariga, Lagos has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing an undergraduate neighbour.

P.M.NEWS gathered that there was a fight between Miss Olaleye Biola and another lady simply called Happiness which was settled amicably on Tuesday.

However, Abayomi, Biola’s boyfriend, who claimed to be a cult member in his school, decided to fight Happiness’ brother in retaliation to please his girlfriend.

During the scuffle, Abayomi reportedly stabbed Happiness’ brother to death and he was promptly arrested by neighbours who handed him over to the police.

Speaking with journalists when he was paraded by the police yesterday, Abayomi said he was not going out with Miss Olaleye Biola as alleged and added that he was about to go out to buy soap when the main gate was locked.

He said when he asked who locked the gate, he was told that Happiness’ younger brother did, adding that when he asked him to come and open the gate, he refused.

Abayomi claimed that Happiness’ brother engaged him in a fight and that he grabbed the knife Happiness wanted to use to attack Biola, which the younger brother also used to threaten him, and stabbed the deceased.

He was later arrested and he is currently being detained at the State Crime Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos for interrogation.

When P.M.NEWS visited the house at 3/4, Ikija Street, Bariga, this morning, the place was deserted. The gate of the compound was locked. At Bariga station, a police source confirmed the incident.
