PRESIDENT Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has nominated Professor Adebowale Adefuye to the Senate for confirmation as an ambassador.

In a letter read by the Senate President, David Mark, at the commencement of yesterday's session in the Senate, Yar'Adua said the nomination was in compliance with relevant constitutional provisions regarding the appointment of ambassadors.

The nomination of Adefuye is expected to be referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs when the Senate returns from its one week retreat in Enugu on November15, 2009
