ASUU strike

It is heartbreaking to hear the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, say that the Federal Government does not have money to implement the agreement it entered into the Academic Staff Union of Universities in 2009. That is the height of being economical with the truth by someone who ought not to. I think she should learn from Mrs. Dora Akunyili who got tired of telling lies for the Umaru Yar’Adua government.

It is only in Nigeria that the government believes that the reward of teachers is in heaven while that of politicians is here on earth and now. That is why a lecturer with a PhD will be driving a trailer while a counsellor who probably is not educated will be building mansions. That is the height of wickedness. The National Association of Nigerian Students should solidarise with their lecturers. The Federal Government led by a former lecturer should know the plight of these lecturers better if sincerity and honesty applied.
